The Software Engineering Laboratory (SEL) has been carrying out studies and experiments for the purpose of understanding, assessing, and improving software and software process within a production environment at the National Aeronautics and Space Administration/Goddard Space Flight Center (NASA/GSFC). The SEL has conducted experiments on approximately 125 production software projects at NASA/Goddard in which numerous software process changes have been applied, measured and analyzed. As a result of these studies, appropriate processes have been adopted and tailored to guide the SEL production environment in significantly improving the software generated. The paper discusses the reuse of software engineering assets at SEL.
