In this paper, two samples of direct fed circularly polarized (CP) microstrip antennas at 2.45 GHz printed on different substrates with high and low loss tangent have been reported. A stub is used in feed network to make the frequency with minimum return loss f_r (resonant frequency) equal to the frequency with minimum axial ratio f_cp (circular polarization frequency). Effect of losses on the return loss, resonant frequency and their bandwidth are examined. Experimental results of antennas showed the impedance bandwidth (2:1 VSWR) about 49 MHz and 37 MHz for FR4 and RT/Duroid substrates, respectively. Axial ratio of 0.5 dB for low losses antenna and 2.5 dB for high losses antenna are obtained.
