We define a model that extends the notion of session in an OSI-like architecture in order to provide a system that can cope with the requirements of sophisticated applications such as hypermedia, and the Internet. This model allows the existence of hierarchy and inter-dependency relationships among sessions, authorises multiple connections to a remote node, and introduces nesting and flexibility among sessions.
