In this paper, we present a methodology for mapping relational database management systems (RDBMS) to hypertext, based on the hypertext model GHMI we are developing. Applying hypertext functionality enhances the effectiveness of RDBMS for users. We illustrate the domain mapping between RDBMS and hypertext through bridge law examples which map database objects to GHMI components, and database relationships and operations to GHMI links. We also describe our GHMI prototype. Hypertext can provide many advanced database features to RDBMS in a powerful and flexible way.
