The aspects of personalized TV program recommendation systems are reviewed in this paper. First, introduction and relevant work of this topic are presented; Second, the philosophies of program description, user profiling and matching mechanism are illustrated, especially on strategies such as implicit and explicit feedback, content-based and collaborative filtering technique; Then a new system quality evaluation method is presented. In addition, we propose a next generation conceptual architecture for integrating real-time program rating mechanism with personalization system using Web Services. Some other thoughts on the application of Web services are also presented at the end of this paper.
