The compensation of channel distortions in wireless multipath environments is an essential task in OFDM receivers. Depending on the radio channel parameters different computation efforts are required. This paper compares different equalization schemes for packet oriented mobile OFDM systems and presents the results of the prototyping of a configurable equalizer onto a FPGA. The design specifications refer to the high-speed wireless LAN standard HiperLAN/2.
