This presentation will start describing the main functions of multimedia control applications with special emphasis on video surveillance systems. Based on this description the resource requirements of multimedia control applications will be presented in particular regarding the use of the processor, the memory, and the network bandwidth. Some real-world sequences will be used to illustrate the presentation.
