Grid computing is becoming practicable, open and standard. Around the world a lot of grid projects and initiatives are being implemented, and many of them tend to be productive. There are several production ready grid softwares such as Globus Toolkit and UNICORE. Grid will become the information infrastructure of workflow in the petroleum industry. Advances in grid computing will meet the tremendous and scalable demands of petroleum E&P for high performance computing. This paper describes the architecture, key technology and application of SeisGrid.
