Ray R. Larson, University of California, Berkeley
In May 1995 the Regents of the University of California approved the creation of the new School of Information Management and Systems (SIMS) on the Berkeley campus. SIMS will focus on research and teaching in a broad range of areas concerning information systems and services, the rapidly growing "information industry", and the expansion of the international information infrastructure as well as the importance of these systems and services in the professions, in scholarship and research, and in daily life. This paper will discuss the mission and developing curriculum of the School of Information Management and Systems.
