Allowing computationally expensive database queries to be performed in parallel, mpiBLAST is an increasingly popular software tool for researchers in biology and bioinformatics. After struggling though a manual installation of mpiBLAST on an OSCAR cluster, our group wanted to simplify the task. This paper describes the process of creating the mpiBLAST OSCAR package
