The recognition of the cursive writing requires generally a segmentation procedure. This operation constitutes one of the major difficulties of all OCR systems. The research of an ideal segmentation process of a word into letters is utopian. In this paper we propose two segmentation-by-recognition techniques for cursive printed Arabic recognition based on Hough Transform.
