We present the design and analysis of a customized access method for the content-based image retrieval system, Blobworld. We analyzed several traditional access methods specifically in the context of the Blobworld data and queries on it. Based on how the traditional access methods performed in executing a Blobworld query workload, we developed several new access methods tailored to Blobworld, two of which performed better than any of the traditional access methods in the Blobworld context.
