In this paper we describe a preliminary study on applying an image processing technique to spam detection. We propose a simple method of processing email messages as image data for detecting spams out of them, and show some experimental results obtained from comparing our scheme with a Bayesian filter system. Although the image processing technique we adopted in this paper is quite simple, the results indicate that our method must be potentially useful for spam detection.
