In the following article we present the generalization of the basic building blocks of Quantum-dot Cellular Automata (QCA). The bistable QCA cell, which can be used to represent two well defined states, is enhanced in a way that allows the representation of three logic values. The significance of such structures is presented through the study case of a simplified control system.
