In this paper, we present the design of a domainbased storage management framework for the Wide Area Network (WAN) toward catering for the largescale and heterogeneous storage environment. In our design, we include the framework architecture, the registration mechanism based on the use of Session Initiation Protocol (SIP), and the Storage Management Initiative Specifications (SMI-S) based storage management scheme. Finally, a prototype implementation is shown.
