Two state-of-the-art design methodologies for embedded applications allowing rapid system prototyping are presented in this paper. These methodologies are currently under evaluation, for the development of a Mobile Communications Processor capable to undertake the execution of all the baseband processing of a Multi-mode Terminal supporting DECT and GSM/DCS protocols.
