Flexecution as a Paradigm for Replanning, Part 1

This is the first of two essays about planning and execution with ill-defined and conflicting goals. Intelligent-systems researchers have wrestled with the difficulties posed by ill-defined goals, and one objective of these essays is to disseminate their insights to planners and project managers who don't appreciate these difficulties. A second objective is to encourage computer scientists to expand their efforts regarding mixed-initiative systems to support planning and execution with ill-defined goals.
