The emergence of peer-to-peer (p2p) Internet telephony is now enabling telecom service architectures to adopt a p2p model. However, there are certain services that require explicit network support. In this paper, we propose and describe the design of a middleware based service architecture to enable the telecom services, including those requiring explicit network support, in p2p networks.
