Abstract: The following paper gives an overview and tackles some goals of the European Project RAFT ¹for supporting remote access to field trips. Based on an existing LCMS "Advanced Learning Environment" (ALE) extensions where build for accessing the LCMS from a variety of client technologies and interface widgets depending on the learning activity and on the learners role in a collaborative learning team. Furthermore extensions of the LCMS where needed to add contextual metadata collected with sensors with the learning objects. The contextual metadata showed to be useful for gathering data and for using the metadata for flexible access of learning objects. Beside the distribution between actors and locations the support for different phases of the learning event field trip occurred to be an important aspect that needs to be taken into account when designing contextualized learning experiences.
