Mobile RFID services for the Internet of Things can be provided either on mobile devices as stand-alone services or in combination with end-to-end systems. When different service solutions are considered, there is more than one possible architecture solution for the network, mobile device and the back-end server. Combining the solutions wisely by applying the software architecture and engineering principles, a combined solution can be formulated for certain application specific use cases. This paper proposes a methodology and a service solution concept called “Quasi-Rich-Client” by illustrating the ideas in a real case study.
