For high-mobility terminals with link disconnection probabilities in wireless LAN environments, an adaptive medium access control based on CSMA/CA with RTS/CTS and reserved time slots is designed and analyzed. If the terminal speed is higher than a preset threshold, the scheme of reserved time slots is used, otherwise CSMA/CA with RTS/CTS is used. The frame structure of the adaptive medium access control is designed. The corresponding saturation throughputs of the adaptive medium access control and the CSMA/CA with RTS/CTS are analyzed under the consideration of link disconnection. Numerical results of throughput are presented for the adaptive medium access control and compared to those of CSMA/CA.
