In this paper, we discuss collaborative, context- aware applications for vehicular ad-hoc networks (VANETs). Inter-networked cars exchange information about sensor data in order to increase traffic safety. This infrastructure can also be used for personalized information services for drivers. We outline possible applications and give more detailed information on a context-aware gas station recommender we are currently implementing within the VANET infrastructure of the Network-on-Wheels project.
