This paper reports on an on-going, exploratory study to determine patterns of technology use in self-directed language learning, a study that will inform the creation of new mobile language learning support tools. A qualitative research approach involving six in-depth interviews was used to identify and document patterns of technology use. Emerging patterns are presented and implications for future mobile support tools are discussed.
