Task Force on Information Assurance
The Task Force on Information Assurance (TFIA) champions a holistic approach to development of Information Assurance technology by asserting an Information Assurance view across
numerous closely related technologies: networking, software engineering, distributed processing, pattern recognition, real time computing, visualization, cryptography, simulation, man-machine interface, data engineering, mass storage, and others.
Technical Committee on Fault-Tolerant Computing
The TC on Fault-Tolerant Computing (TCFT) provides a forum for exchange of ideas among interested scientists, researchers, practitioners, developers, maintainers, users and students in the technical field. It is aimed at identifying and integrating approaches, methods and techniques for specifying, designing, building, assessing, validating,
operating and maintaining computer systems where faults are considered as natural, anticipated events, and thus, can be tolerated.
Information Assurance Standards Committee
The IASC sponsors standards development in a wide range of areas benefiting global human society through timely delivery of information conditioned by confidentiality, integrity, authentication, authorization, and non-repudiation. Every area of information technology (IT) is impacted by information assurance, and the IASC therefore develops standards jointly with other standards committees, such as the Storage Systems Standards Committee and the Software and Systems Engineering Standards Committee, both of the IEEE Computer Society, in addition to collaborating with organizational units of ISO, ANSI, INCITS, NIST, CNSS, and a multitude of industry consortia.
These standards serve to enable and protect essential functions of society's critical infrastructure elements that relate to information technology (IT) in areas of defense, finance, commerce, healthcare, transportation, and energy. All of the tools of the IEEE and collaborations with organizations in IEEE, in other standards development organizations, in government, in academia, and in industry are used to develop the best and most widely accepted standards in this area. IASC develops standards that are meant to be global in reach.
Seventh European Dependable Computing Conference
The seventh European Dependable Computing Conference (EDCC-7) aims at providing a European-hosted venue for researchers and practioners from all over the world to present and discuss their latest research achievements. Original papers are solicited on theory, techniques, systems, and tools for the design, validation, operation and evaluation of dependable computing systems. All kinds of faults are of interest, from traditional hardware and software faults to accidental and malicious human interactions.
The 13th IEEE Pacific Rim International Symposium on Dependable Computing (PRDC'07)
PRDC-2007 will focus on the many dimensions of dependability and fault tolerance, encompassing fundamental theoretical approaches, practical experimental projects and commercial components and systems. This symposium provides a forum for countries around the Pacific Rim and other areas of the world to exchange ideas for improving the dependability of computing systems.
The 38th Annual IEEE/IFIP International Conference on Dependable Systems and Networks (DSN 2008)
In 2008, the DSN conference will once again incorporate the Dependable Computing and Communications Symposium (DCCS) and the Performance and Dependability Symposium (PDS), together with workshops, tutorials, a student forum, fast abstracts, and demonstrations of tools and technologies.
The future of "Computer * "(Are we in serious trouble?)
Dr. Yale Patt discussed the future of computing during his presentation for the IEEE Computer Society's 60th Anniversary celebration.

IEEE Distributed Systems Online aims to promote professional awareness of developments, trends, activities, and editorial coverage in the distributed systems field and provide online support for Internet Computing and Pervasive Computing. IEEE DS Online hopes to serve as a springboard for building a stronger distributed systems community and offer researchers, students, educators, application developers, and program managers a forum for sharing ideas and discussing projects.
IEEE Software's mission is to build the community of leading and future software practitioners. The magazine delivers reliable, useful, leading-edge software development information to keep engineers and managers abreast of rapid technology change. The authority on translating software theory into practice, the magazine positions itself between pure research and pure practice, transferring ideas, methods, and experiences among researchers and engineers. Peer-reviewed articles, topical interviews, and columns by seasoned practitioners illuminate all aspects of the industry, including process improvement, project management, development tools, software maintenance, Web applications and opportunities, testing, usability, and much more.
IEEE Pervasive Computing delivers the latest peer-reviewed developments in pervasive, mobile, and ubiquitous computing to developers, researchers, and educators who want to keep abreast of rapid technology change. With content that's accessible and useful today, the quarterly publication acts as a catalyst for realizing the vision of pervasive (or ubiquitous) computing, described by Mark Weiser nearly a decade ago.
The essence of this vision is the creation of environments saturated with computing and wireless communication, yet gracefully integrated with human users. Many key building blocks needed for this vision are now viable commercial technologies: wearable and handheld computers, high bandwidth wireless communication, location sensing mechanisms, and so on. The challenge is to combine these technologies into a seamless whole. This will require a multidisciplinary approach, involving hardware designers, wireless engineers, human-computer interaction specialists, software agent developers, and so on.

The IEEE Transactions on Dependable and Secure Computing is a new quarterly that will publish archival research results focusing on research into foundations, methodologies, and mechanisms that support the achievement_through design, modeling, and evaluation_of systems and networks that are dependable and secure to the desired degree without compromising performance. The focus also includes measurement, modeling, and simulation techniques, and foundations for jointly evaluating, verifying, and designing for performance, security, and dependability constraints.
Debugging and Performance Tuning for Parallel Computing Systems
In this book, developers of both debugging and performance analysis tools and application developers and vendors discuss the technical and sociological problems facing the field. These discussions let you learn from others' needs and frustrations in building and using tools on parallel systems. The book covers three major research themes: tools for task and data parallel languages, techniques for real-time adaptive system control, and optimization of heterogeneous metacomputing applications.
The Anatomy of a High-Performance Microprocessor
This work describes in detail the microarchitecture of a high-performance microprocessor, giving an integrated treatment of platform and systems issues relating to the design and implementation of microprocessor-based systems. Unique in content and approach, the accompanying interactive CD-ROM provides multiple books and a wide variety of materials
