FREE Software: Spread the word and Win $1,000!
Contest Rules
IEEE Computer Society is offering all student members access to
FREE Microsoft® software – thousands of dollars worth! And we need your help to get the word out, so we are holding a video contest on YouTube™.
$1,000 U.S. will be awarded to the best “Spread the Word” video submitted in reply to ours on YouTube. In addition, the top 20 videos will have the chance to appear in IEEE Computer Society online programming and maybe even IEEE.tv.
There are three steps:
1. Shoot and edit your video.
2. Upload your video to
the contest group on YouTube
3. Register your contest entry using
this form.
Here are the Rules:
The $1,000 U.S. prize will be awarded to the best video for spreading the word about the free software offer for student members of IEEE Computer Society. Submissions should be posted in reply to this one on YouTube.
- No purchase is necessary
- Open to legal residents of any country where this competition and the free software are not prohibited
- Your video should focus on spreading the word about the free software offer for student members of the IEEE Computer Society.
- Contest starts 15 February 2008 and ends 30 April 2008. Winners will be announced 16 May 2008.
- Length should be no more than 2 minutes
- Get releases from everyone in the images and audio. Use this form
- Don't use copyright-protected material unless given express, written permission from the copyright holder.
- Use royalty free or Podsafe music and audio, such as is found at music.podshow.com
- One submission per person
- Your submission must be original to this contest and legally obtained and created
- Your submission must not have been entered in other previous contests
- Your submission must not have been previously been distributed in any other media not related to this contest
- By submitting this video, you grant IEEE, Inc. permission to edit, use, and display this video in any manner whatsoever.
If you participate in the competition, you agree that your submission does not:
- libel or defame anyone
- invade the privacy of any person
- abuse or threaten anyone or any entity
- contain content that is offensive or inappropriate for viewing by children
- infringe on any intellectual property or other right of any person or entity
- falsify or delete creative attributions, legal notices, or other proprietary designations
- violate any law
- promote or condone illegal activity
Judging
The winners will be judged according to the following criteria
- Number of YouTube views – 20%
- YouTube favorites and Ratings - 20%.
- IEEE Computer Society panel of judges 60%
